NRV CARES is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting children, preventing child abuse, and strengthening families in the New River Valley.
Our mission is to protect children and strengthen families with our vision of a resilient New River Valley free of child abuse and neglect.
About Us
NRV CARES (New River Valley Child Advocacy, Resources, Education, and Services) strives to improve the lives of the smallest and most defenseless members of our society. Through community outreach, targeted advocacy, education efforts, and more, we’re working to build an environment where children and families can thrive.
Our services are available to all Virginians living in the counties of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and Pulaski, as well as the City of Radford. NRV CARES is an affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse Virginia and the National CASA Association.
Why NRV Cares
Thanks to the generous collaborative spirit of our partners and funders, we are able to continue our mission of protecting children and strengthening families across the New River Valley.
Keli joined the NRV CARES team in October 2007 as the Education Program Director. In this role, she oversees both the Parent Education Program and the Community Education Program. With deep roots in the New River Valley, Keli is passionate about working with families across the region.
She firmly believes that every child has the right to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment—and she brings that belief to life through her work at NRV CARES each day.
Keli lives in Christiansburg with her husband, their two children, two feisty felines, and a playful pup who keeps her on her toes!
Dionne is a North Carolina native who made the New River Valley her home in 1997. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has dedicated her career to working with children through a variety of organizations since graduation.
Dionne is a strong believer in the power of community and its role in enriching the lives of children. She brings this passion to her work every day, striving to make a lasting impact.
She is a mother to two children and lives in Riner with her husband and their beloved dog.
Leah is a longtime resident of the New River Valley who first joined the NRV CARES team in 2012 as a part-time facilitator for the Parenting Young Children program. In 2018, she transitioned into her current role as CASA Volunteer Coordinator.
Leah holds degrees from both Virginia Tech and Purdue University, and has contributed her talents to several local nonprofit organizations. She firmly believes that it takes a village to raise a child and is passionate about supporting a community where all children have the resources they need to grow and thrive.
Leah lives in Christiansburg with her husband and their two very loved cats.
Mona has called the New River Valley home for over 30 years, having settled in the area after earning two degrees from Virginia Tech. A dedicated advocate for children and families, Mona’s relationship with NRV CARES began in 2002 when she joined the Board of Directors. She was elected Board Chair in 2003 and served in that role until 2005.
In 2006, Mona transitioned into a part-time staff role with the agency and moved into her current full-time position in 2007. Her deep-rooted passion for supporting children and families continues to guide her work today.
Mona lives in Catawba with her husband, Tommy, their sweet dog, and adventurous cat.
