Community Education

Child sexual abuse prevention training workshops provide knowledge, increase awareness, and encourage prevention of sexual abuse.  These workshops are provided by NRV CARES trained staff and are for any adult who is concerned about the welfare of children and who desires to learn about child-protective behavior.  Stewards of Children® uses real people and real stories to show you how to protect children.  The framework of the training is built off the foundation of The 5 Steps to Protecting Children™.

Theatre IV, a Richmond-based professional theatre company, presents this musical to area elementary schools to address the issue of inappropriate touching and appropriate responses should this occur.  All elementary schools in the area are offered the opportunity to schedule these plays.  NRV CARES coordinates scheduling of these events in partnership with local social services agencies.
