Thank you to everyone who made the 2025 Spring Family Fun Festivals a memorable celebration of childhood across the New River Valley!

Each year, the New River Valley comes alive in April and May with the spirit of Child Abuse Prevention Month through its Spring Family Fun Festivals. These free, family-focused events aim to highlight the fundamental right of every child to a happy, healthy childhood. With games, prizes, and a wealth of community resources, the festivals draw families from across the region to celebrate togetherness and support.

Radford kicked off the season on April 3rd at the NRVCS Radford Center with sunshine, bubbles, and a warm community spirit. Over 150 attendees enjoyed free popcorn and cotton candy, courtesy of Radford DSS and BAE, alongside a variety of giveaways and activities from local vendors.

Floyd County followed on April 10th at Floyd Elementary School. Despite the rainy weather moving festivities indoors, the community showed strong support, filling the gymnasium with laughter, games, and plenty of sweet treats.

On April 17th, Montgomery County hosted its 4th annual event behind the Christiansburg Recreation Center. With over 150 attendees enjoying hot dog meals donated by the Montgomery County Department of Social Services and prepared by the Simple Fixin’s food truck, and a host of fun activities, the event was a resounding success—setting the stage for a big celebration next year as it turns five.

Pulaski County wrapped up April with a bang on April 24th at Jackson Park. Hosted by Pulaski DSS and the Town of Pulaski, the festival featured snow cones, bagged dinners, games, a petting zoo, and an overwhelming turnout from the community.

The series concluded in Giles County on May 8th in Pearisburg, with about 250 attendees joining the festivities. Coordinated in part by Giles County ACCE All In students, the event included a bounce house, cotton candy, and entertainment for all ages.

These festivals underscore the power of community and the unwavering commitment of local organizations and volunteers to creating safe, joyful spaces for children and families.
