CASA of the New River Valley
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of the New River Valley, a program of NRV CARES, trains volunteers to advocate for children in court.
Parenting Young Children
Systematic Training for Effective Parenting curriculum (STEP) for parents/caregivers of children ages birth through 6 years.
Community Education
NRV CARES engages in many community initiatives that work to prevent child abuse and neglect before it occurs.

9th Annual Kappa Delta Shamrock 5K

Since 2003, Virginia Tech’s Kappa Delta chapter held the annual 5KD Shamrock Event, a 5k run on Virginia Tech campus to support the prevention of child abuse. Proceeds from this exciting event benefit NRV CARES and Prevent Child Abuse America.  
This year's Kappa Delta 5KD will be held on Saturday,  March 24th at 11:00 a.m. with the 5K course starting at Margaret Beeks Elementary School, 709 Airport Road, Blacksburg.  Register online or bring a $15 check payable to Kappa Delta on the day of the race.  Funds raised will benefit Prevent Child Abuse America and NRV CARES. Run for fun--and a great cause!

Kappa Delta will also be holding a fundraiser on Wednesday, March 21st at the Frosty Parrot (a self-serve frozen yoghurt store located at 125 North Main Street, Blacksburg).  10% of Frosty Parrot sales on that day (from the hours of 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.) benefi tPrevent Child Abuse America and NRV CARES.  Patron must have a coupon for donation to apply--and coupon will be handed out in front of the Frosty Parrot.
