About

Our Mission and Vision

NRV CARES is an organization in the New River Valley that provides child advocacy, resources, education and services.  Our program areas include CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Parenting Young Children Courses (using the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting, or STEP, curriculum) and Community Education programs ("Hugs and Kisses" plays, the Blue Ribbon/Pinwheels for Prevention campaign to increase awareness of child abuse/neglect, the "Long Lunch" annual mini-conference, Parenting Workshops, events for the community concerning child welfare issues, and many more).

NRV CARES’ vision is to reduce child abuse and neglect in the New River Valley.  We strive for the best ways to educate, inform and advocate for the children and families of our region.

NRV CARES is an affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse Virginia and the National CASA Association.
